Tonight, UFC 295 goes down and here at ATF, we’re going to give our predictions on the main and co main event Jiří Procházka vs Alex Pereira and Sergei Pavlovich vs Tom Aspinall.
Jiří Procházka vs Alex Pereira
Angus: Procházka - Jiri has proven time and time again that he can’t be beaten. Pereira struggled against Jan Błachowicz who in my opinion, is past his best and someone who Procházka would beat handily. Also Jiri hasn’t lost since he was fighting more than one time per night. Jiri winner by knockout.
Aaron: Procházka - I’m a bit on the fence with this one as I really like both guys, however, I think Jiri will take this one by submission in round 3.
Ash: Pereira - I am going with Alex Pereira as I can see him catching Jiri. Jiri has his hands down a lot and I think Pereira will capitalise on it.
JK: Pereira - Both men are very hittable, but I’m taking the decorated kickboxer over the wild samurai. If Pereira is able to lead with his kicks, slow Prochazka down and finish him against the cage.
Si: Procházka - So Jiri is the pick (I’m invested in the story of Izzy challenging Pereira at LHW one day BUT it’s Jiri's wrestling and ability to take the fight to the ground where I think Pereira will have the most trouble.
Sergei Pavlovich vs Tom Aspinall
Angus: Aspinall - I think Aspinall is a very smart and calculated fighter, we’ve not really seen Pavlovich tested properly yet and I think Aspinall will be the guy to do it. I actually see this going all 5 rounds with Tom growing in strength throughout. Tom by decision.
Aaron: Aspinall - I can’t see this one going the distance, both guys coming in to fight on short notice, whoever is prepared more will win, Aspinall should grapple for this fight and I think he will. Tom by submission.
Ash: Aspinall - I am going with Tom Aspinall as he will be too quick and his ability to get the fight to the ground will be an issue for big Pav. Even if Tom doesn't get it to the mat, Tom's fight IQ is insane and I believe he will have an answer for anything Pavlovich has to offer.
JK: Aspinall - Tom Aspinall is going to use his footwork, speed and distance management to get this fight to the ground and outwork Pavlovich. Only one person has got Pavlovich down in the UFC and that was the last person to defeat him (Alister Overeem) I’m taking Tom by head-in-arm choke.
Si: Pavlovich - Tommy will survive, be illusive and have better movement but he will dish little damage. And for Pavlovich he’s just going to need one chance to get the job done and I think he will.
