Preview: UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Spivac

UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs Spivac will kick off at an unconventional time this weekend with the main card kicking off at 6 am. So set your alarms, grab a cup of tea and join the ATF boys over on the youtube channel for the watch along!

The reason for this early (or late start depending on where you are) is that this event was originally slated for South Korea, however, due to injury to The Korean Zombie, the event was moved to the Apex.

Our second fight night of 2023 begins with the big boys. Derrick Lewis looks to turn his two-fight skid around by facing Moldovan fighter Serghei “Polar Bear” Spivac who’s on a two-fight winning streak himself.

Last time out, we saw Derrick Lewis finished in the first round thanks to a somewhat controversial stoppage at UFC 277 to Sergei Pavlovich. Lewis will be desperate to turn his luck around this Sunday.

Serghei Spivac on the other hand last fought Augusto Sakai at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Hill where he won by ground and pound in the second round. Spivac will be looking to steal Lewis’s number 7 ranking this weekend and will be lifted by the fact that his fight will be kicking off around midday in his native Moldova.

In the co-main event, unranked light heavyweights go at it with Devin Clark taking on Da Un Jung. Both guys are coming off losses, however, both are on the verge of the top 15 and will be desperate to win to push their case for a ranked opponent next time out.

Another heavyweight clash on the card involves rank number 10 and 15 as Marcin Tybura takes on Blagoy Ivanov. Both guys are coming off wins in each of their last fights and a win here would almost certainly give them a top-10 opponent in their next fight.

The rest of the main card is made up of a welterweight bout between Yusaku Kinoshita and Adam Fugitt along with a featherweight matchup between Doo Ho Choi and Kyle Nelson.
