This Wednesday, JK, Ash and Si all went to the UFC 286 Q&A event and had the chance to interview Leon Edwards, Arnold Allen and Nathaniel wood. Read here what they had to ask.
JK: Hi, I’m JK from against the fence and I’ve spoken to you a few times Nathaniel, I met you in the signings Leon in July but I haven’t met Arnold before. So my question to you is, Tesco reported that the most popular meal deal is a breakfast sandwich, a 500ml bottle of coca cola and flame-grilled steak crisps. Of course, we must come to the meal deal connoisseur himself and ask for your opinion.
Arnold Allen: It’s bollocks!
JK: So when are you going to change your nickname to Arnold “Meal Deal” Allen?
Arnold Allen: When Tesco get on board! They’re being tight!
JK: Who’s your manager? We’ll get that sorted, thanks very much!
Ash: My name’s Ash from Against the fence, my question is for Leon Edwards. A certain welterweight claims that the altitude had an effect on your performance against Usman, is that true?
Leon Edwards: Oh yeah 100%, the altitude in Birmingham is like 100 and the altitude in Utah was like 4,000 above sea level, Usman trains in Denver, Colorado so his body is used to that kind of air. I think it was one of the worst performances of my career but I still got the job done. So I’m excited to be back here in London with my people and it’s going to be totally different. I’ve never lost in the UK, amateur or pro so I’m bringing the confidence back into the fight and it’s going to be a very good night.
Ash: So what can we expect from your performance this time around at UFC 286
Leon Edwards: Just a cleaner performance, round 1 I felt good and I went out there, took him down, he’s never been taken down. Once it hit the mat, I know I’m much better than him and I can take his back and everything. Just like I said, carrying on from where I left off in round 5, keep the confidence and keep it on him from round 1 to round 5.
Ash: Thanks, best of luck to all of you!
Si: My question is for Arnold Allen and it’s about the upcoming potential bouts. If Volkanovski goes up to fight Islam, he may have to relinquish the belt for the division. When do you think you’ll be ready to fight?
Arnold Allen: Well the doctor says six weeks but I can start training in three weeks and we’ll see where we go from there. Yair vs Emmett is for the interim title so we’ll have to see how the division looks from there.
