Following a split decision victory over Henry Cejudo, Aljamain Sterling faced off (with the now jacketless thanks to teammate Merab Dvalishvili) Sean O’Malley in the octagon. This was the bantamweight fight to make following O’Malley’s victory over Petr Yan and Aljo’s reluctance to fight teammate Merab Dvalishvili.
Sean O’Malley has been making his own strides in the division, beating Kris Motuinho, Raulian Paiva and Thomas Almeida along with a no-contest (which O’Malley looked to be winning) against Pedro Munhoz.
Aljamain Sterling seemed to suggest that Sean had things gifted to him on a plate by Dana White and the UFC, however, one thing that cannot be argued is his striking game which is one of the best in the entire organisation.
Sterling has been on a great run, since losing to Marlon Moraes he’s beaten Henry Cejudo, T.J. Dillashaw, Petr Yan, Cory Sandhagen, Pedro Munhoz, Jimmie Rivera, Cody Stamann and Brett Johns. He’ll be looking to make this his final fight before moving to Featherweight.
The watch-along for UFC 292 kicks off at 3 am on Sunday morning, don’t watch alone, watch along.
