Victor Henry opened up about his experiences inside and outside of the octagon on last Saturday's Against the Fence Q&A. Henry, who is relatively new to the UFC but boasts an impressive record of 23 wins and 6 losses, sat down with Si to discuss his recent fight against Tony Gravely, his love for food, and how fighting has allowed him to explore his other interests.
When asked about his recent split decision win over Gravely, Henry admitted that he wasn't entirely pleased with his performance. While he felt that he had landed
many significant strikes, he didn't believe that he had done enough to truly hurt his opponent. For Henry, the goal of fighting is not just to land hits, but to ultimately take down one's opponent. He also mentioned that he doesn't have the one-punch power that some fighters possess, but makes up for it with his volume of strikes.
The conversation then turned to Henry's love for food. He revealed that he enjoys trying new foods from different cultures and that fighting has allowed him to travel to various countries and sample their cuisines.
He even shared that one of his favourite places to eat is a restaurant called GoGo Curry in Japan, which he discovered during one of his fights in the country.
He spoke about how fighting has opened up avenues for him to pursue his other interests, and how he uses these experiences to promote himself to fans. The interview gave a unique insight into the life of a UFC fighter, and how their passion for fighting can drive them to explore other areas of their lives. It was clear that for Henry, fighting is not just a career, but a means of exploring and experiencing the world around him.
